French Mackes and his family reside in Virginia Beach. 

He works full time as a systems analyst in Norfolk.

French earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore Country, where he studied Information Systems Management. 

He earned a Master of Arts degree from Norfolk State University where he studied Media and Communications.

French has spent many hours volunteering to serve the public.  French Mackes has volunteered as the head coach of youth athletic teams in Virginia Beach. 

He has volunteered with the PTA of a Virginia Beach public school by routinely moving the "Super Citizen" of the month signs from yard to yard every month to honor students that were selected by teachers.
